Mummy Dogs

We found an adorable recipe to share from for all your ghosts and ghouls for Halloween!

A fun twist to make your dogs even more life-like—er, afterlife-like?—than before. They’re perfect for a quick dinner before trick-or-treating; after all, if anything can give “candy for dinner” a run for its money, these cute + filling mummies are it!

Are you ready? Here’s how to make them. All you need are three ingredients:

  • 1 package of hot dogs
  • 1 package of Pillsbury crescent rolls
  • Ketchup/mustard for dipping

Step 1 Preheat the oven to 375ºF. If using crescent rolls: Unroll dough; separate at perforations, creating 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal. If using dough, sheet: Unroll dough, cut into 4 rectangles.

Pinch together the seams of crescent dough

Step 2 With pizza roller, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 strips, making a total of 40 strips of dough.

Use a pizza cutter to cut strips of crescent dough

Step 3 Then, take one hot dog at a time and make a slit at the bottom for the mummy’s legs. Then, make two slits along the side for the mummy’s arms.

Slice hot dogs

Step 4 Wrap strips of dough around the individual “arms” and “legs” and then around the body of each hotdog, leaving an area about half an inch long unwrapped where the mummy’s “face” is. Place crescent-wrapped hotdogs on a large ungreased cookie dough sheet, and lightly spray the dough with cooking spray so it bakes up to a nice golden brown.

Wrap crescent dough around hot dogs

Step 5 Bake for 13-17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot. With mustard or ketchup, draw two eyes on the “face.”

And there you have it, a quick dinner that will have everyone smiling!
